Tuesday Toffee #6: unlearn

<unlearn

is like throwing out things you don’t need anymore
beliefs, patterns and habits at the most:
things that hold you back
and keep you in your familiar roundabout

forcing you to circulate
on
the same old
wheel tracks

again
again           and again
with no end.

Unlearning all those things you sucked up as a sponge
from your culture, your history, from your parents and help you
no more
on the path of your life. This can be painful, though,
like all changes we are forced to become.

It can also be refreshing and liberating

sometimes. Unlearning is not forgetting. It’s a conscious act aiming to reach
those smoky, hiding realms of the subconscious, moulting shields which
never ought to be one with us. Moulting fears of any category, especially
from physical threads, loss, damage, pain.

Unlearning the “survival fight”, “work-load”, unfair, inhuman boundaries; the weight of capitalism, communism, terrorism, cultureless fear-ism, ill consequences of some of our past choices.
Unlearning fragility, helplessness, low self-esteem, tiredness and disappointment – all those juicy adult things that came and stick on us on the way and make us

a boring
magicless
serious
busy
always running
critical
protective

adult.
