Tuesday Toffee #12: asking the right question

Where are you now in your life?

Do you experience a hard, challenging time?

A real change strikes you down like a storm with that raw, merciless power of the elements: it shakes you from head to toe. And this is all right, don’t worry, it happens to everyone. It happened to me too, several times.

The question is: how do You deal with such a period. How do you deal with a loss, threats, or simply with your own inner “greatest hits” thoughts, fears, etc…
And what do you do when you are forced to transform against your will?

Or rather, when You want to change something (like quitting smoking, moving to another country, going back to the gym, quitting your antidepressant, reforming your company, etc…): What is your goal and how do you get there?

A change may enter through whichever part of your being, and it affects your whole existence. There are sudden, unexpected changes on bodily, emotional or mental levels, there are some others which have a preparation period (and then occur suddenly, but not out of the blue), and there are those which are not happening to you as a passive being but you chose to enter the stormy space of self-transformation and leave your comfort zone.

It’s quite easy to get lost in here. There are many things you can do for yourself, for example, you can finally ask the right question and stop hiding from the answer.

Ask yourself:

  1. Where I am now? Do I have any problems/challenges? Physical or non-physical? Is my everyday life affected by this thing? How do I feel?
  2. What is happening to me? This step comes when you already named those sensational, emotional and mental signs you receive from yourself, and helps to distinguish what the heck is going on.

Without facing where you are and what is going on you hardly will leave the situation. This is the source of all transformation to happen: none of these answers matter really, what counts is whether you are ready to see it, face it, with all its emotional, mental and physical implications, etc.

Your personal story continues on the other side of the storm, have no doubt.
Be kind to yourself, because the storm is kind to no one. Reach out to other people, connect with your friends. Reconnect with your bodily feelings. Find your center in your spirit and in your body. Wherever you are right now, this is exactly that particular point where your transformation begins (or continues). Be present, be there for yourself, and let the waves take you further.

Later on I will add the full article where I wrote about changes and some practical advices how to “survive” such periods. It will be published in the upcoming Integral magazine in Spanish.
If you need any practical and personal guidance, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.

Have a great week you brave heart-warriors!
